Hi,
I have a DS currently 8.5 months. I am due to go back to work in February 2009 so he will be almost 1 year old then. Due to availability as well as my own personal preferences, he will be going to a CM on Monday and Tuesday full-time and then nursery all day on Thursday and half day on Friday. Thought it wasn't through choice, I kinda think that it's not a bad idea as DS is lovely but very active and gets bored easily so I think the change of scene will do him good. CM has a LO very close to his age (and 2 other children who are school / nursery going ages so he will be only mindee) so he will have a playmate while he is there. And the nursery is a lovely children's centre with not too many kids (9 max under 2s).
He will be starting those days at the nursery on 12 January so there will be a settling in period before that yet to be agreed with nursery. My questions are, bearing that in mind...
- Is it a good idea to start him FT at the CM at the same time and do the settling in at the same time or do you think it will all be too much?
- We are meeting with CM this Saturday, what kind of settling in can I ask from CM? She has said she is pretty flexible with regards to that but I have no experience in this area. Also, will I expect to pay CM for the settling in? The nursery has sent me a letter to say the settling charge is ÂŁ3.80 / hour.
Any advice will be very much appreciated! DS will be about 11 months old then. Thanks!
Ax
