My nanny (who is Canadian) has a friend in Canada who wants to return to the UK. If anyone is interested to know more, post here.

She is 20 (I think???). She worked outside of Manchester for a while, then went back to Canada. Obviously, the motivation here is that my nanny wants her friend to come back and ideally be in easy commuting distance. So, I'm declaring her interest here.

Anyway if anyone is in a pinch for English speaking au pair, come talk to me.

Ooh its so tempting Athene but money is sooo tight just now...

When does she want to start and how much is she (roughly)

Don;t know why I'm asking as I really don;t think I can stretch to it in the current climate but... ooh...

AtheneNoctua · 27/10/2008 13:48

Erm... have no idea on rate. Would guess £70-£80 for room, board, and 25 hours of work. My nanny would find Kew a very acceptable commute distance. :-)

Catch is her visa runs out end "until April" I'm not sure if that meant through March or through April.

But, I highly recommend live-in help. You could get her to do the childcare run in the morning and then you could shoot off with less hasle and just do the pick up after work. And, she could do your laundry while you are at work. And maybe tidy the kitchen and do the online shopping for you. (and put it away when it arrives) Or you could do the shopping and she could put it away.

Oh her availability date is immediately. (but I wonder if she needs a bit of time to sort out flights)

it sounds great but

a) thats about £300 a month I don't currently have (though could save half that by firing cleaner)
b) drop off isn't a big problem atm

Think I need someone when it gets to nursery/school which won;t be for another year yet.

I am interested, although are a 45min train commute to central London.

We do not have an AP car though and NEVER insure APs to drive our cars (DH doesn't really let me drive his car, it is so fast it scares me when I do so!) and we are quite rural, just under 1 mile to nearest main line station and 1/4 mile from bus stop.

We are a jolly lovely lot though last AP was on £90 + perks for 35 hours. Nice room, share bathroom with DC, laptop with broadband in room, ditto TV, DVD player, Fridge, Kettle etc.

I was going to try to do without, last one was so fab my expectations are now too high for most AP standards. BUT DH is only home 6 nights out of 5 weeks currently (no more than 3 nights together) starting last tues.
DC both ill prev week, I've been ill since Tueday (chest infection and sinus infection, GP asked if I was rundown ) and I have come to the painful realisation that I need more support - don't even have a cleaner at mo.

Also very hard to recruit for rural and DS with SN.

45 min which way from London? We are about the far West.

Marmaduke you are probably closer to West London than me, I guess...

I am close to exploding with current AP

SqueakyPop · 27/10/2008 17:14

I would be interested from next August

MarmadukeScarletbloodstains · 27/10/2008 17:23

No I'm S/SE of London, a loong way from West.

I was so desperate to post my credentials I didn't read the second part of the title .

AtheneNoctua · 27/10/2008 21:49

Oh Squiffy, now you know I really do want to know the details. What has happened???
