Do you buy a new AP a welcome present? and if so what is it?

Room for Ap will be lovely and clean. I always put in some fresh flowers as a little welcome but should I be doing anything else?

I do a welcome card from DS and a little British gift - last one was a mug with the underground on it filled with cadbury's miniature heroes and a couple of gift sized bottles of molton brown toiletries.

Try to cook their favourite (or known liked) meal for first night with a pud (wouldn't normally do a pud)

Also take them on a specific touristy trip their first weekend.

I did a thread on this recently! Had some marvellous suggestions. I actually followed them all too. Here's what we ended up doing:

  1. Welcome pack (houserules, maps of the locality, information about local stuff, transport information & timetables etc)
  2. Really clean room - including steam cleaning carpet and drycleaning carpets and bedspreads, and bedding. Also cleaning the grout in her bathroom. Also fresh pillows.
  3. Hot water bottle
  4. Nice dressing gown
  5. Flowers and candles
  6. New towels
  7. Nice smellies
