She is Romanian (have been warned about this),speaks very good English and I really hope it works.
Our previous 2 nannies were so much part of the family they will be a hard act to beat.

Anyone else had the transition from nanny to AuPair?

Just been to the station to pick her up and she wasn't there so texted her-she missed the train.....not the best start.

My shortest was 3 days, she told me she wanted to leave on the day Princess Diana died. She did then work her week's notice, tho', so 1 and a half weeks in all.

Bad luck, whooosh. There is a dry ski slope in or near Northolt, if that's any help.

Well I would have been quite happy not to be this particular reigning chamion.

Well she arrived Midday Thursday and Dp took her to Northolt to get her suitcases at 1pm Friday so technically 25hrs.

However,I didn't tell her she wasn't coming back until Saturday morning-think I am still in pole poeition though.....

Oh and we are really scary-ask our two previous nannies who still come to stay with us at every available opportunity

MN sould be compulsory reading for anyone contemplating an au-pair!!!

Jura - I found your space cadet saga one night and drank an entire bottle of red wine while I read it

Ours arrived Sat - well, the girl we are trialling. The idea is that if it all goes well she would come back afgter finishing her coursework at uni a couple months. Very sweet but jury's out. And this girl is mature. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I'd brought one of those 18 year old ozzies over. If it doesn't work, not sure we will pursue another AP option but go back down the after school nanny route (and worry about how we are going to feed ourselves on top of that later).

Same problem as us Harriet-we have had such a great couple of nannies,am not sure I can face keeping at this.
However, after school nanny a complete financila no-go for us and school holidays a crippler!
