Good morning everyone [well afternoon actually]. Hope you are all ok and that all the ladies with nasty colds are all feeling a bit better. [get a dog ].

I had a phone call last night from the mum of the 2 mindees that finished a couple of weeks ago. She thinks she has a new job so there is a glimmer of hope to have the kids back plus extra hours. Heres hoping

Hope that mum gets back to you soon Coolj.

I'm not working this weekend... I'm at Center Parcs, Longleat. Just had lunch, off to hang from ropes in trees this afternoon, then a trip to the Spa.

looneytune · 18/10/2008 13:16

Afternoon.

coolj - best of luck!!!

Nick - have fun

I'm just about to spring into action after being up LOADS through the night with baby!!! Putting the kettle on, making a cuppa then I'm getting all my paperwork spread out on the floor and working my way through it all (and hope ds1 and dh stay out as long as poss ). Can't do it tomorrow as I am working most of the day plus have a family coming over about a few days work in the half term.

How I wish I didn't have so much bloomin paperwork.....as for the housework, have about 7+ loads of washing to do aswell as everything else, there is not enough time in the day plus not enough room in the house to hang it all!!!

Have a good weekend everyone x

coolj · 18/10/2008 14:34

Oh Looney take it easy with everything. Poor you, you must be exhausted.

Hi Nick, please be careful with the ropes. Dont like to see a good man hung from anything IFSWIM. Can I join you in the SPA. I could do with a good pampering.

Have fun. {skips away merrily thinking of massages, jacuzzis, hot steamy rooms, half naked men phew...}

at coolj

Nowt to report here, DS have a friend over - they are 'helping' DP in the garden.

heh heh heh

nannynick · 18/10/2008 15:56

Don't worry coolj - I have survived the ropes - even if I was a little slow on section 6 (the hardest part) - an 8 year old lad put me to shame... he had no trouble. I blame my centre of gravity being somewhat different to his.

nannynick · 18/10/2008 15:58

I'm a Spa novice (well I've been once before, but it was a couple of years back, so I've forgotten). If anyone has been to an AquaSana at Center Parcs and can give me some advice, please do here.

KatyMac · 18/10/2008 19:18

I've spent most of the day in bed

I am really thinking about emigrating.....where shall we go?

ShosheTheGhoshe · 18/10/2008 19:30

Katie where ever you are going I am coming with you.

I had to get up to go get my new glasses, and do Tescos.

This blardy cold has had me awake all night coughing and sparked off a major Lupus flare, so have spent most of the rest of the day asleep on the sofa.

KatyMac · 18/10/2008 19:34

My get up & go, got up & went

Is New Zealand nice? Does it rain? That's DDs current choice

DH is keener on Barbados or doing dancing on cruise ships

I just want somewhere dry & warm - not hot you understand, just warm

ShosheTheGhoshe · 18/10/2008 19:41

I loved NZ, I went to North Island as a child.

DS and DDIL had thought of Canada, but have decided on going back to South Africa.

So i will probably have to settle for long holidays out there with them, once I retire next year.

KatyMac · 18/10/2008 20:12

I started a thread about where to go......

ShosheTheGhoshe · 18/10/2008 20:17

Link pretty please.

KatyMac · 18/10/2008 20:22

here

PinkChick · 18/10/2008 20:23

Hi Everyone..hope you enjoyed your spa afternoon Nick?..you go to centerparcs more often than i do!..are you 'working'?..i went into spa last time but just had swedish massage, it was fab!..did hurt (i have had back probs in past) but felt fantastic afterwards!
We're back of to whinfell end of Nov, cant wait, wonder if im extra nice to DP he'll book me in

southernbelle77 · 19/10/2008 08:35

Morning

Shoshe, I sympathise with you on the cold front. I'm fed up of not being able to breathe properly and coughing constantly. Desperately hoping it miraculously (sp!) goes over night as I do not fancy working with this tomorrow.

Yesterday we had a busy day. DD came home from school on Friday as 'Star of the Week' and with the 'Headteachers Award' (given for outstanding achievements) so we thought we would treat her for being so good We baked cakes in the morning and then decorated them. We then went to big farm park and spent the day having fun there!

Today we are off out for lunch for sil's birthday. Hoping the weather will be nice this afternoon and dd can go jumping on the trampoline to wear herself out!

Katy - New Zealand sounds good. Canada has been a place we have thought of. More because dh's job means he goes there quite a lot anyway and it's one of the only places he has to go to that I would consider!

SammyK · 19/10/2008 09:05

I am off to a christening today, my baby mindee that left in the summer.

Hope everyone is feeling a little better today.

I have a recommendation for you all. Seven Seas Tonic. Big glass bottle, in a navy and orange box. Me and DP take this whenever we feel run down and feel a cold coming on and it really helps!

nannynick · 19/10/2008 09:36

No I'm not working this time. It's quite different being at Center Parcs without children... nice actually. I'm finding that I am generally avoiding places with lots of children - like the swimming pool - sticking with the Spa instead (as adults only).
I'm off to do Action Challenge (low ropes) this morning... then a Spa session this evening followed by an Indian meal at Rajinda Pradesh.

KatyMac · 19/10/2008 09:39

Morning all

Glad we are having fun this week-end

I'm a bit shell shocked that what started off as a "I'm bored & at home by myself on a saturday evening - what shall I do" has turned into a "Let's emigrate to New Zealand" supported by DH

I think it needs a lot of thought

tulip31 · 19/10/2008 09:50

Morning all,

Hope everyone with colds etc is beginning to feel better.

Katy - good luck with the info searching, a friend of dh's family emigrated to new zealand earlier this year and are having a great time. When I see him next (can't say when as dh in Hong Kong, and I tend to find that I'm left alone when he is away!!) I will ask what they had to do etc for you.

Does anyone know about built-in gas cookers??? Mine has decided to stop igniting today, so am trying to cook a roast dinner in the small top oven as have the inlaws over??

KatyMac · 19/10/2008 09:52

Has the fuse gone (the spark is electric)?

Can you light it with a match?

coolj · 19/10/2008 10:14

Morning all. Im nice and hung over this morning . My brother and nephew left early this morning to go back home.

Last night we all went to Quasar Elite, which is a fancy name for laser quest. It was a laugh. As we were sneaking around looking for people to zap, I asked my nephew to 'cover my back'. He took this literally and stuck like glue to me all night I dont think he got shot much. Anyway we had a slapup meal, got the kids to bed and had a few glasses of wine.

Today Im taking my 3 DS to the cinema. Bring on the popcorn....

Have a good day everyone.

OP posts:
tulip31 · 19/10/2008 10:35

Thanks Katy,

the top oven is working fine and the oven is clicking - so trying to ignite, but just noticed that the fan has stopped working. Am going to have to admit defeat and get a new one, which is going to be fun

KatyMac · 19/10/2008 14:02

I have a lovely cooker man - mine has been mended twice (for about £55 & £75) not bad for a 7yo cooker (which cost £600 back then )

looneytune · 19/10/2008 14:09

Hello everyone. Just popping in whilst mindee is napping and baby is playing on playgym, dh has taken ds1 out

Katy - dh would LOVE to emigrate - good luck with your search!!

Well, had a family over this morning and the 6 year old is coming to me for 4 adhoc days over half term which will mean much needed extra dosh!! I have a question actually but will post on another thread.

Right, off to start thread then grab some lunch before mindee wakes up!

Bye for now x

tulip31 · 19/10/2008 17:03

Sorry for hijacking the staffroom!!

Katy - where are you based??

Looney, glad to hear that your adhoc has worked out.

Nick - have a great time at the spa

Hello to everyone else
