If you were looking for a new nanny where would you look first? Would it be word of mouth from friends, ads in the paper or local shops, places like mumsnet/netmums/gumtree, or agencies. Im looking for a job and not getting much response im just wondering where everybody would look first.

I think it depends on the families location to a certain extent. In some area's there may be little choice but to use Agencies and perhaps local paper. Whereas in London and various other cities, recruiting via Gumtree/Nannyjob is possible.

My past three nanny jobs have come via:
Agency, NannyJob, Agency

i register with agencies and they send me prospective cv's to see if i want to interview.

my 2 current day jobs were found on netmums and gumtree

and my overnight job,and any babysitting is via a local agency
