Nanny share: should we go for 2 separate contracts or just one? Getting conflicting advice!

We are very pleased to have found a like-minded family to share our nanny but we all seem to be getting conflicting advice about contracts: is it best for our nanny to sign a contract with each family, or should we write a 3-way one?

Any tips appreciated.

Thank you

I've never done a nanny share, but I would have thought that there should be 3 contracts in place:

Family A - Nanny
Family B - Nanny
Family A - Family B

The last of these would detail the arrangements of the share itself - such as whose house is used when, who is responsible for food costs, outing expenses, agreement on how you will be sorting out nannies pay, how either family can terminate the agreement, etc.

When we shared we had a single contract between the families and the nanny, and a 'written agreement' between the families (ie. stipulating how much notice required if a family ended the share, how food would be paid for, which house used when, etc)...the agreement would not be legally enforceable but at least meant that the issues had been discussed and decided upon.
