Would a cm mind looking after my DD for only 3 months?

Hi

would it be ok for me to ask a cm to look after my 8 mth old part time for 3 months only while I work to pay off my maternity pay? i wasn't sure if this was quite common or if a cm might be a bit about it... thanks!

This is not ideal for many childminders, as we look for more permanent/long term arrangements generally, but this might be perfect for a minder that has another child starting in a few months. I had this situation last year, where I helped out someone for just over 3 months. So best to phone around

I nannied for a mum who had to pay off mat pay so if you can't get a cm then a temp nanny would probably be avail.

depends on situation - my CM has a full tiem space now with someone possibly starting January so she'd be very happy (though perhaps a bit unsettling for baby).

You ned to ask - there is no general view I doubt.

This shouldn't be a problem as 3 months is a long time to advertise and fill the space after your dd no longer needs it.

PS. I have vacancies in Doncaster area

happyfaceschildcare · 06/10/2008 10:26

I also would take on a 3 month contract as I have a space available anyway might aswell make some use of it whilst I'm advertising, I would want a contract in place though even just for 3 months safer for both parties.
I'm in Kent but if you are not there is a site called www.emergencychildcare.co.uk that has a number of childminders on their books in different areas that all do short term contracts.
Good luck

Lucy what area are you in? I myself am full but I have a childminder friend who has vacancies currently and would help short term. We are in SW London.

JenniPenni · 06/10/2008 11:04

ps: I am on www.emergencychildcare.co.uk, I have helped out a couple times when I had a vacancy, and all was fine. Is a well vetted site!
