When my DD who is 5 plays 'shops', she always has Dollars as her currency??????

One Banana, that will be 59 Dollars please.

Not quite the same but mindees referred to 'tomaters' (tomatoes) after an American relative came to stay with them last summer.

V funny banana/dollar story, tas

NumberFour · 29/09/2008 18:48

one little girl (6) was shy and soft spoken before the summer holiday. when i saw her again at the beginning of term, her accent was pure Hannah Montana!!!! ALL THE TIME! but the other 8 year old only gets into the swing of THANGS when role play starts.

lol about the dollars from tas1 dd!!

My older mindees do American, Scottish and something vaguely from "up North". I have no idea why they do it, and they're not very good at it either!

Arfa · 29/09/2008 23:28

Well, I know I did when I was 4 or 5 and I'm now 54 so I wouldn't get too bothered by it. In those days, we were always playing cowboys and indians (which we definitely copied from the TV) so an American accent was required if you wanted to join in.

NumberFour · 30/09/2008 06:29

LOL!! Arfa, i also played cowboys and indians. I had forgotten about that - and I am 42, and grew up in South Africa!

I am not bothered by it, just amused, really. I supposed that it was TV's influence!

Funny to know that other kids do it too!

My only mindee that has ever done this had the disney channel at home...

I actively try to avoid tv on in my setting, and when I do it is cbbc or cbeebies (I am not fond of either but no materilistic adverts).
