CM CLUB - Shall I start providing wipes? What do you think......

I have 3 under 19 months during each daytime and therefore have 3 lots of nappies and 3 lots of wipes (plus up to 3 lots of cream etc). I'm finding it all a PITA with my bag as it's heavier than I'd like and it gets in a mess and I'd like to just be able to grab what I need.

I was just thinking that it would be a LOT easier if I had just ONE packet of wipes and then some nappies for each child as they are no trouble, it's the wipes that take up the room. I buy Asda or Tesco own for my baby and they are only 99p a pack so just thinking that I may as well just provide my own wipes and the little bit of extra money it's costing me would be worth it iyswim.

What do you think? Wouldn't be that expensive really would it - shall I go for it?

Why don't you just explain this to the parents and ask them to pay a little extra per month for wet wipes. Speaking as a parent who uses a C/M I'd be much happier paying the small amount each month rather than constantly having to remember to leave over wipes.

Thanks, really useful to hear what a parent thinks I'm not sure what would be reasonable to ask per month tbh. One is full time and the other 2 are split 2 & 3 days a week. I'm not sure it would be even worth paying extra as I can't see it being that much extra for me.

They already provide big packs of nappies (well, all but 1) and I let them know when I'm getting low. Just having 3 different packs of wipes each day is a PITA!

I buy the wipes to use on my mindees, much easier than lugging 3 packs around, remembering which one is whose, parents remembering to supply them etc! I buy tesco/asda or whatever is on offer and of course put them down as a business expense.

looneytune · 29/09/2008 14:13

Right then, that's what I'll do as it's doing my head in

Cheers!

looney - you're mad if you lug three lots around! just use your own and see if parents willing to pay if not it's not much really. but do check that none of them react to other brands! my own dd can only use unfragranced one so they all do!

looneytune · 29/09/2008 14:31

Cheers Yes, sent email now to ask that question but I'm usually given different brands each time plus a lot of the time they are fragranced. I personally only EVER buy UNfragranced as I don't see the point in them smelling nice .

could they each provide you with one packet, aggree on a brand that suits everyone, then take only one out. When they are all used up, they could each provide another. Actually that sounds confusing LOL yes just get them to contribute to a wipes fund, like the trips fund at nursery, or whatever, £2 a month each or something!?

KatyMac · 29/09/2008 18:22

I provide wipes - I am allergic to loads so if I buy them at least I know they won't rip my hands to shreds

ThePrisoner · 29/09/2008 20:10

I use wipes provided by parents when we are at home, but take just the one packet of my own when we go out. I don't charge parents anything.

FeelingOld · 29/09/2008 20:33

I work on the same basis as The Prisoner, I have a basket at home with wipes/nappies provided by parents but take just one packet of wipes which i provide when i go out. To be honest i dont change nappies when out very much, usually change before we go so dont actually use that many.

Fadge · 29/09/2008 21:44

I use their own wipes at home, and my own wipes when out, I can't be doing with a huge suitcase full of bother! I don't charge, I just put it down as an expense.

Obviously check there are no sensitivities!

mumlove · 29/09/2008 22:13

I also use their own when at home but just take 1 packet of my own when we go out.
