Need someone to look after the children while you pop out? Ideally someone your children know?

Just for an hour or so for a Doctors appointment, the Dentist, if your hair needs cutting or just some shopping.

We have open mornings every other Tuesday, the next one is 9th September between 10-11am at

This sounds like a great idea KM, I agree, childcare at WC sounds good.

Hope it gets you some business in, also you may find adhoc work brings you permament work too, I have had that happen before. Fingers corssed for you.

Agree with everyone else, very good idea and prefer childcare to childminder

Shoshe - do you have a photo of your car with these on? I love the idea but need to persuade dh

Agree that childcare is a better word to use. Google search volumes for July 08, indicate that 'childcare' has higher search volumes (note: data may not be that accurate as Google does not seem to report purely search results for UK, even though I've put my settings as UK only).

With advertising, the key is to test, test and test again. Only vary one thing, then run the advert for a few weeks. Ideally have 2 or more ads running with slightly different wording (only one thing changed) and compare response. Could include a "Quote: ABC123" or something, to help you identify which advert the person has seen.

Initially, I'd say try having one advert with no cost, and another with cost.

Ok Loony will go out and take one

I think its a great idea Katymac and wording brilliantly. Shame you're not by me as I may be needing ad hoc childcare from time to time, but not enough to warrant hiring permanently (weird shift patterns/overtime/promotion). Good Luck.

KatyMac · 04/08/2008 12:45

Good luck finding what you need

I would be interested to know how you got on katy as I have just, this morning put up posters locally to me advertising the same thing - emergency , temporary and ad hoc minding.

I no longer want the restrictions of permanent contracts or full timers so i'm giving this a go. Luckily aroung here work is plentyful so hopefully this will be too.

I was going to charge more for this service as I already charge quite a bit more than my fellow CM's and i've never been short of work. I also charge a great deal for babysitting and have plenty.

I will let you know how it goes. I know that when my children were small, it would have been something I would have been interested in.

I have put up lots

ranging from a donation to charity through to £8.6
