CM CLUB: Are you full?

MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 01/08/2008 10:36

How many mindees have you got? Have you got spaces? How many hours/days do you work? Are you finding it's really really quiet considering it's almost Sept??

I have 3 mindees, all part time so plenty of space still. 2 booked in for next week to visit, hadn't had any enquiries for months before this though

I work 7 days of the week and average 45-50 hours across the 3 of them as they rarely cross over.

I've yet to meet a local minder who is full despite the apparent childcare crisis and the fact that they keep on registering new minders

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Shoshe · 01/08/2008 10:51

I have

3 full time mindees, 7.30-4.30
3 part time mindees 7.30-9.00 3.00-5.00
1 part time mindees 3.00-5.00

and 2 holidays only for 3 weeks 7.30-5.00

2 of the full time are leaving at the end of the year but there places have already been filled, contracts being signed this week.

I have been very very lucky in the last 10 years I have never had a space, in fact have had a witing list.

JenniPenni · 01/08/2008 11:25

I have 7 part-timers, and look after 4 children per day, from 7:30 am to 6:30pm. They are all full day children, breakfast to tea.

I have one vacancy on 1 day currently, but am keeping that free because the others in my care on that day are quite young. When they are a little older I will look to fill that extra vacancy.

I get many enquiries, not sure if it's the area I am in... SW19 Greater London. I have a waiting list with 2 kids on it.

Love2bake · 01/08/2008 11:34

I have:

1 mindee 4 days
1 mindee 5 days

2 After-schoolers 5 days a week

I work over 40 hours per week.

Still have 1 space due to my own son starting full time school in Sept, but have not filled the space as yet.

looneytune · 01/08/2008 11:35

I'm full with under 5's but as usual, stuggle to get over 5's presume due to breakfast/after school/holiday clubs?

I have 3 mindees now, 1 FT and other 2 babies share the rest of the week (2 days and 3 days). I did have an after pre-schooler but she's left now as starts school in Sept and mum changed hours.

No under 5 spaces, lots of phonecalls and about 5 on my waiting list plus current mindees wanting to increase days but can't. 2 over 5 spaces, have 2 provisionally reserved for odd days, 1 in April 09 and other in Sept 09 but that's in with the over 5's unfortunately.

I work 8.15am-6pm (but currently on maternity leave) 3 days a week and 7.30am-6pm the other 2 days. I used to start at 6.45am and can say I don't miss those hours!!!

Not finding it at all quiet, in fact I've had about 6/7 phone calls/emails since ds2 was born 6 weeks ago. Just wish they were school age calls

I really think it depends on what area you live. I'm very convenient to town/motorway and we don't have loads of childminders in my area which helps.

Hope you fill your spaces soon as I know how stressful it can be.

looneytune · 01/08/2008 11:38

1 x 4 days (8am-6pm)
1 x 4 days (9am-5pm)

badgerhead · 03/08/2008 08:34

I Have
1x f/t under 5
1 x p/t 4 days 8-6
1x p/t 4 days 10-3
1x p/t every day but 2 days am & 3 days pm
plus an occasional one 2 days a week
(I have a variation for 4 under 5's every day!)
I also have b/a schoolers, of whom one is all holidays and every day in term time (older sister of 5 day p/timer), another who is just 2 weeks in the summer hols only plus after school every day.
1 b/s 4 days (not holidays)
1 b/a 5 days (not holidays)
Have just had 2 leave as moving onto secondary school & am replacing with
1 b/s 4 days
1a/s 4 days & 1 a/s 1 day
Am very definitely full, continuously getting enquiries & most minders I know around here are full or as full as they want to be, parents are finding it hard to find spaces. We have also got a nursery closing at the end of the year (well almost certainly) & several playgroups shutting as well.

stellabgh · 03/08/2008 13:51
