Gossiping Nanny - I have been so stupid

As much as anything I wanted to warn other parents not to make the mistake I have.
My nanny has left because she's pregnant, in a foul mood all the time and her rather dominating boyfried has told her she has to. All fine but she is still working as a cleaner for somebody who's child is at school with mine.
Now for the past few weeks I have been getting odd looks from people at the gates and wondered why.
Well it's all come out today, my nanny has basically repeated all our business, over heard conversations, some true, some exaggerated. She's now not answering my calls, not texting I have had to resort to facebooking her to ask for my house keys back.
Please do not make the mistake I have and confuse a nanny for a friend, I am having to tiptoe around the neighbourhood at the moment.

I'm a nanny and respected my family, and wouldn't drean of doing what your nanny did, so there are some of us out there who can be trusted. Well in my eyes people like that, what comes around, goes around IFYSWIM, maybe she will get it something she don't like, something back in her face. People who think they can get away with these things and thinks it's a laugh, don't always get a good outcome of it. She don't sound trustworthy atall

How horrible for you. Sounds like you just going have to gracefully rise above it; they'll be someone else for school mums to talk about in September. If any one is driven to mention it, you could say, "Yes, I understand there was some nasty gossip. But what can you do?" - the implication you're not that bothered and the gossip was wrong but what can you do about it?

How horrible for you Kdd.

I know a few nannies & they would never look at a families private affairs. The nanny is a bad nanny & unfortunately there are people like this in all roles.

I hope she gets her just desserts!

Oh I can so symapthise. I had a dreadful nanny who used to drink in the village pub and for a while some people believed some of the stuff she said.... but what goes around comes around. It will all blow over, and you will eventually just be grateful she is out of your lives. She, meanwhile, will always be a spiteful little bitch. good riddance.
