I have verbally told my parents im giving up at end of July, do i still need to put this in writing?

As far as I am aware, you do need to put it in writing. It also gives you 'proof' that you gave notice and when.

Has Ofsted taught you nothing? Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork! Yes, you ought to, just to keep everything perfectly in order and like SB says, you have it in writing then, in case someone kicks off.

Also photocopy all the letters that you send out so that parents cannot say they didn't get it.
