cloth nappies and CMs

whats the deal if you want your CM to use your cloth nappies? Do you buy a bucket to keep at their house and then take it away with you when you collect the DC? A wet bag? What? Will obviously wash them myself and take her a clean stash, wouldn't expect her to wash them.

double posted on nappies board

Bag - well that's what I do

Love real nappies

bucket or bag is fine! As long as you take them away I wouldn't mind either

I use bags! I too love clothies! At the end of the day I put the bags out in the porch and the parents just pick then up!

We just use a supermarket carrier bag - tied up if necessary, and changed regularly.

im thinking of child minding. looking into registering and everything else in a couple of weeks when we eventually move (it would have been quicker to build a house from scratch i think!!!) and tbh i think id be happier soaking them in my (bathroom) sink and then giving them a quick machine wash for you rather than have a bag full of stinky cloth nappies stuck somewhere! although that would mean you wouldnt neccessarily get them back the same day!

why not ask your cm and see what she would be happiest with?

Bramshott · 03/07/2008 12:07

The carrier bag with nappies stays in my DD's zip-up bag I think. They're really not that stinky, as all the solids are flushed away with the liner!

There are certain regulations / rules that you have to follow if you wash them for the parents........not sure what they are but I looked into it all when I fisrt started CM

micci25 · 03/07/2008 12:18

of course if i was to wash them id make sure that the parents were happy with how i was doing it and what powder i was using and id follow any guidelines set out. im sure ill be given all the info when i look into registering wont i?

tbh I don't think you would have the time to start washing nappies, getting them out, drying etc. when looking after kids. I do put my own washing on when mindees are asleep (like now) and I try to do a bit of paperwork but it is hard.

Both my mindees have cloth nappies and I just take out the liner with poo/wee on and put in a nappy sack (i know some people flush down loo but I don't). Then I just keep two carrier bags and mums take them at end of day.

Liz79 - you could leave a bucket I suppose but with me it's a space issue - I don't really have the room.
