should I be put off by this AP's weird response?

going through the hideous AP recruitment process and just had a German AP respond to my question about "what do you think the hardest thing about being an AP would be?" by saying "being alone when the family exploits you". Is this just linguistic weirdness or am I right to think this is a pretty negative attitude? Others have said stuff like being homesick or lonely or just said they can't see any possible negatives.

on another note, has anyone used an AP recruitment agency called Pebbles?

probably she means being exploited by a family and having nowhere to turn - hypothetical, hopefully!

nannynick · 27/06/2008 18:35

Has the AP perhaps worked for families in the past? Perhaps a previous family did exploit.

catepilarr · 27/06/2008 18:58

you can ask what she means by that and why and then see.

catepilarr · 27/06/2008 18:59

actually, if something like that happens, that IS quitle likely the worst thing that can happen to an ap. maybe you should word the question in a different way to get the sort of unswer you expect.

I think she sounds quite sensible actually .. that is definitely a possibility

she sounds quite mature to me .. she's not saying that you'd exploit her but looking at your question realistically that's true

Maybe she's answering too honestly for a job application? But I'd be most worried by those who couldn't see any possible negatives.

I've had a lot of AP's put this sort of response to that question. It's blunt but I think that is just a communication / lack of suitable vocabulary thing, and the fact she's German. They are very very blunt, which tbh I prefer, at least you know where you are. So no, it wouldn't worry me.
