CM CLUB does anyone else sometimes wish the ratios set by OFSTED didn't exist!!

I mean I completely understand why they are put in place to stop some cm stacking them into their houses and not having enough space or being able to cope with having loads of mindees at once, but does anyone ever sit there during the day at full capacity according to what you are registered for and think I could quite easily cope with another mindee?
I suppose this question has come about because I am currently pg with dc2 and my ds is almost 3years old therefore my under one space is filled as is another one of my under 5 spaces. I have had a mindee with me since he was 5mnths old and he is so good and I am full with my over 5 spaces after school all of which are term time only contracts. All of the mindees I have are really well behaved and completely in an excellent routine of doing things when they are at my house. Today they were all playing really happily together while I sat and read another mindee a story and I thought how annoying I could quite easily have another under 5 and cope perfectly well. Does anyone else feel like they are being held back due to ratios and that they could quite easily have another mindee and cope just as well.

Soory if that sounds a bit confusing but am on a bit of a rant think pregnancy hormones are taking over and I have had to turn away 2 potential mindees this week due to space issues!

I know some childminders, who at times will over-mind by one child. It may be against the rules, but they cope fine, and it's for a short period - such as an overlap between one mindee leaving and a new one starting.

However, I can see that the regulator has to impose a limit somewhere, then take action for breach of that limit - if it comes to their attention as being a problem. If there were no limits, then someone with a small house may cram in lots of children.

I think it's about the children you mind

I have 2x4.5yo's they go to School in September & will be F/T from day 1

So during the last day in August I can have those 2 and 1 baby & on 1st September I can have them, the baby & 2 other children under 5

Which is a bit odd imo
