The changes I know we need to make are to...
change the home page photos
formatting (some uneven in policies)
gaps between lines in activities
duplicate photos in gallery (any you particularly like/ dislike?)

Any idea's of things I can add?

TIA

Hiya mate, had a quick look and I LOVE your website!! I really think it's fab and these are just a few tiny little picky things I would change if it was me. I've read through the first 2 pages and then just flicked through the others as time is short I'm afraid (last day for massive clear out as have plans to be a lady of leisure from tomorrow )

Home Page - need a comma after David

About Me Page:

on the bit about care assistant, I would remove the word 'has' and have 'this provided me with invaluable experience of working with disabled and elderly people'

Is the Food & Infection course the same one? If so, I would change the word 'and' to '&' maybe? Just because the 2 ands together confused me (could just be me though )

Well done

Thanks LT.

Anyone else got any thought?

Tia

Just the ones that have been mentioned, looks really good!

Brangelina · 11/06/2008 13:29

Thank yous doesn't have an apostrophe, neither does Records (on the policies page). Plurals don't need apostrophes.

I just skim read it (supposed to be working) so haven't noticed anything else in particular, just those which were really obvious.

LoveMyGirls · 11/06/2008 13:48

Thank you

Do you think it's a good idea to have a vacancies page or not?

First off, I think it's a fab site. Combines professionalism with a lot of your personality (I assume!). If I wanted a childminder, I would definitely want to meet you after seeing this site. (Have you got all your metatags etc sorted so that you'll show up on Google?)

Home page - I'd put a full stop (or an "and") after your name.
Photos on home page - if it were me, I'd have one family photo, and then shots of your home and garden.
Home page - semi-detached (not semi detached) and seesaw (not sea-saw)
Home page - Being a mum myself (not being a "Mum" myself - unless you're not actually a mum!)
Policies - in your fees section, you should have : not ; for each type of fee
Policies - babysitting usually one word
Policies - outings doesn't have an apostrophe, nor does pictures
Menus - fruit missing a capital, bananas doesn't need apostrophe
Menus - do the kids really get cheese for lunch 4/5 days? I mean, my DS does, but I always thought that was because I'm a bit rubbish!
Ofsted report - text format does not match the rest of the site. Reg number missing - I assume with good reason, but maybe say this can be supplied on request?
Ofsted - does the Complaints bit in your Policies section fully comply with the improvement comment in your Ofsted? Maybe link to that section from the Ofsted (with a note that you have improved this)?

Just posted this on another thread, but it's relevant here too:

Something that's often overlooked is how your target audience is going to find you. It's really important to give a description of your service in the page title (the bit in the tag, as search engines give a lot of importance to that.

So basically think of the kinds of keywords people would use looking for your service and try and contruct a title from that, keeping to around 20 words if possible. Try and use an appropriate and different title for each page.

In your case I would replace Kelli's Child Care: Home Page with OFSTED Registered Childminder in Attleborough, Nuneaton: Kelli's Child Care

Cornflake girl thanks for all your comments and readin it all so throughly

Home page - I'd put a full stop (or an "and") after your name.

ok

Photos on home page - if it were me, I'd have one family photo, and then shots of your home and garden.

good idea

Home page - semi-detached (not semi detached) and seesaw (not sea-saw)

thanks

Home page - Being a mum myself (not being a "Mum" myself - unless you're not actually a mum!)

see your point

Policies - in your fees section, you should have : not ; for each type of fee

ok

Policies - babysitting usually one word

ok

Policies - outings doesn't have an apostrophe, nor does pictures

ok

Menus - fruit missing a capital, bananas doesn't need apostrophe

ok

Menus - do the kids really get cheese for lunch 4/5 days? I mean, my DS does, but I always thought that was because I'm a bit rubbish!

no they dont have cheese every lunch time, just giving examples but see that it might be a good idea to change this

Ofsted report - text format does not match the rest of the site. Reg number missing - I assume with good reason, but maybe say this can be supplied on request?

reg number supplied if they have signed a contract

Ofsted - does the Complaints bit in your Policies section fully comply with the improvement comment in your Ofsted? Maybe link to that section from the Ofsted (with a note that you have improved this)?

I have put a notice board up with a complaints leaflet on it but will change the complaints bit in my policies (had my ofsted report after I'd set up the website and only added the report, didn't amend my complains policy) Will change the format too although don't want it to look like i've written it myself.

Thanks for the info about search engines, though i do come up top in most google searches doesnt hurt to improve it.

LMG - with the reg number - I know from threads I've read on here that there is a reason that childminders don't just hand out their reg number (although can't remember what it is!) - but for anyone who doesn't know that, it might look a bit weird that you blanked it out - maybe like it's a provisional report and you're not actually registered, or something? Just thinking out loud - maybe anyone looking at childminders would see it so often they'd get used to it.

I've just googled childminder attleborough - you were second from bottom on page 1 - and childminder nuneaton - you weren't on the first two pages - so you may need some work there...

LoveMyGirls · 12/06/2008 14:46

I'm not too bothered about coming up on searches really, I've got quite a good reputation (from what I've been told) I've had one mindee give notice this week (not trhough mum's choice, we're both gutted) and have almost filled the space already if anything I can't take the new child on soon enough. Just want my website to be up to date and just so, so that anyone that does look at it doesn't think "oh that's rubbish" and that if I do direct anyone to it and they are potential customers they have all the info they need .

Apart from the few small grammatical mistakes mentioned above I think it's a really lovely site. Very well designed and worded.

I would love to send my child to you!

LoveMyGirls · 14/06/2008 10:55

Awwwwwww thanks Branflake my dp works in IT and it was his first ever try at doing a website and it's my first time having my own business and i've never written a website before either, we've both worked really hard so i'm glad it's paying off we're going to do the final touches this weekend so i'll come back to see what everyone thinks of the finished result on monday probably!
