Childminder school wraparound 48 week charge

Just looking for others experiences with using a childminder for school wraparound care. We’re thinking of moving our child across to a childminder as she’s not really enjoying the wraparound at her school, and she’s only reception age. The childminder charges for 48 weeks of the year, with 4 weeks unpaid holiday. we will only be using the service for 38 weeks. She does offer holiday provision which would be on offer to us and we could top up the extra from what we have already paid for that day. Does this sound like a normal agreement?

The school wraparound you just pay for the days that you use during term time, so it is cheaper overall. But there isn’t a holiday club onsite and I would prefer a childminder setting for holidays at her age.

TIA for an advice

In non term time you are paying to keep her place and have a space should you need it in holidays. Completely normal from when I used childminders.

There isn't a normal - childminders are self employed and can charge what they like - although some do charge for their own holidays - which is a very grey area legally.

See if you can find a child minder for the holidays. Or otherwise could you and Childs dad go 50/50 on taking the time off?

It's a perfectly normal and fair arrangement.
