Childminding in Scotland

I am thinking of looking into this a bit more over the coming months rather than going back to my desk job.

I am particularly interested in doing after school care where I would collect kids from school and look after them until early evening when a parent collects. I'd also consider doing a drop off service in my area and have a sort of breakfast club.

Can you tell me if this sort of thing is actually done and if it is of interest to parents at all?

I want my focus to be on my son during the day until he goes to school hence the reason I don't want to do childcare full-time if you know what I mean. Any thoughts appreciated.

not in scotland in southern england but if you only have one child you could register and would be allowed 5 under 8's plus within reason some unlimited over 8's most cm's need full time so limits number of school age children, look to see what nurseries, schools etc in your area you could drop off/pick up from and also could you take to any extra activities e.g. dancing, brownies, karate would fill spaces quicker

Childminders in Scotland are regulated by the Care Commission. Some things are different to England, so a good place to look for advice with regard to setting up is Scottish Childminding Association

our cm does before and after school, and holidays too

I'm sure it would be very popular!
