where to start looking for an au pair...

hi there,
we are looking possibly for a live in au pair to start just before ds 2 arrives...

we live in north london, highbury, not sure where to start to look, what to expect in terms of pay, hours etc...

can anyone help direct me please to agencies, how much i would be expecting to pay per week/month, what not to do etc...

I don't know much about agencies but if you go on your local gumtree.com there is always loads of people advertising

When I lived in London I had 4 au pairs in as many years. The best 2 I got through the London Au Pair and Nanny agency, www.europa-pages.com/expo/exhibitors/londonaupair.html.
The au pairs they supplied were both excellent, although this was 1999-2004 so my recommendation is a bit out-of-date.

When the first one started my ds was 3 and dd just 6 mths although both at nursery 3 days a week while I worked. We are still in touch with both au pairs, one is now a surgeon and the other a nurse.

sunshine - our lovely romanian au pair has a friend in england at the moment ready and available to start as an au pair - if you are interested let me know. We live near Highbury too.
