I am in an uncomfortable situation regarding a family friend's child.

This child is not a mindee but has been in the past very briefly, have known child almost their whole life and am concerned for chidl's welfare (concerns focus mainly on saftey and neglect issues). The child is six.

My question is do I look at this from a CM point of view or family friend. I know SS have already been out once and resident parent was assessed and told to make changes.

There is another child there too who was badly hurt last week and I feel I can't not do anything any longer.

Very tricky

I would ring SS as a friend

I would give as much information as I could with specific incidents and dates

That way SS can decide what to do

I have been in your position and it is a scary place to be

Good luck

Thanks KM, I know non resident parent has been keeping a diary of concerns (at least they were, hope it is up to date), am also concerned about giving name as last person who got ss involved has recently had her and her baby threatened.

Hi Chick, not what you need right now is it!

I would anonomously raise your concerns with ss, like you say even as a mum not a cm you cant 'do nothing' if you are concerned over their safety.good luck.

I know but can't continue chancing it that the child will be ok.

How did it go?

Are you OK?

Hi,
Sorry I am totally butting in, but Im a child protection officer. You can contact s/s and NOT give them any of your details.Or if you know what primary school they are at you are aloud to contact them to voice your concerns. Hope this is of some small help.
Hope all is ok

Hi called SS yesterday morning and so hopeing something good will come of it. Didn't leave my name for fear if reprisals but explained I worked in childcare but was just calling from a family friend POV.

Anyway thanks for advice and support it helped me pick up the phone.
