Nursery in Barnes SW London

Hi all, I’m in my early second trimester for first baby and wonder if it’s too early to look into nurseries? I read online some nurseries have very long waiting lists. I’ve emailed a couple of the closest ones today to have an idea but wonder if I’m being overly keen! I’m hoping to get baby in for Nov next year, twice a week (T/Th preferably if possible) if those info are relevant! Also any recommendations please if you’re local would be very much appreciated x

I don’t have any recommendations as we don’t live in Barnes (but we live very close by!) but I can’t see any harm in getting on a waiting list (or lists) early. We’ve just moved and were wait listed for a nearby nursery.

Hi @user593 yes that’s what I figured. Which nursery did you register with? I visited My Sunshine in Barnes but have nothing to compare with. We will visit The Village Nursery next week. We’re open to the ones in East Sheen also as we live in Barnes/East Sheen border, but would be keen for local recommendations so hopefully will get some here.

Good luck, I hope you get a space in your one!

Never too early when it comes to childcare you'll quickly discover.

Thanks! I’ve sent you a PM. DC is starting in September but we didn’t need f/t and were flexible on days which helped.

Not in the area you mention, but decent nurseries near us book during pregnancy if you want a full time or even 3 day a week space.

Even ours, which is rural so has lower demand than town ones, books up around birth for full time. We signed DS up when he was 3 months old and could only have the 2 least popular days a week. That was 4 years ago and things have got worse since. Friends were advised to book asap during pregnancy to be certain of a place for even a couple of days, if they wanted to choose the days themselves.

Thanks all - we’ll be looking into some now.
