Does anyone know what the rate for early evening (not bedtime) babysitting might be please? Or is it like asking how long a piece of string is!

Dd is 20, drives herself to babysitting jobs, has been babysitting for about 4 years. She gets between £10-11 per hour, depending how far it is. Midlands.

Mrsttcno1 · 14/07/2025 18:41

For a registered childminder, or a local teenager who’s just after some extra cash?

That’s really helpful, thank you.

It’d be great to have an idea of both/either please.

My DS babysits locally and he’s 17 and gets £8.50 and after 11pm £12ph, some of the uni kids around are are about £12-15.

Depends on where. Here in my Herts/London border suburb it’s £20 minimum for someone more qualified, or £15-ish if you get a younger, inexperienced sitter (but these are hard to find too!) ~ but I know I’m normally the top end of these threads!

It's £12.50 an hour here for a uni student, but I'm sure teens will do it for less

Thanks again.

Just adding my own because I would love to see more!

Adult sitter (maybe 25?) who works in a nursery during the day in East Anglia. She quoted us £10ph a few years ago. We put her up to £12ph after just a few nights as she’s wonderful. Wondering if we should raise it again?

I’m a Nanny 20+ experience I charge 20 pounds an hour. But I rarely babysit these days.

caffelattetogo · 27/07/2025 22:48

Wow, that’s a big difference in rates.

Teenage neighbour with no childcare experience I pay £8 an hour for basic babysitting. I’d pay more if they needed to handle cooking dinner or any other tasks that are beyond basic babysitting.

Older teenager who has lots of childcare experience from working in a nursery - £12 an hour.

Nursery room leader £15 per hour

FloraBotticelli · 27/07/2025 23:06

On Bubble (babysitting app) here rates tend to be £12-£18 per hour depending on experience

SophiaSW1 · 27/07/2025 23:07

London. At least £20 per hr

Plinketyplonks · 27/07/2025 23:19

Southern Scotland - local teen babysitter one £8, local teen babysitter two £10. Proper adult babysitter who works in childcare settings - £12.

legoplaybook · 27/07/2025 23:23

Teen £8-£10, qualified adult £12-£15, experienced nanny/night nanny £15-£20

Thanks so much for these.
