How to find a good childminder

How can I make sure a childminder is going to be good for my child and take good care of them? What should I be looking for ?

Ask around for recommendations.

Decide what things are important to you and what you can compromise on.

Make enquiries and visit some, you'll have a gut feeling.

Get recommendations, read parent references that the childminder has (if they don't have any that might be a red flag), visit the childminder, read their Ofsted report.

Choosing a childminder is a very personal thing. It is about going with your gut and seeing if you click with them.

If a childminder is out and about with other children you could observe how they are with the children they are looking after.
