CMs - what are your views on potty training?

Hello all. There's a thread in AIBU which got me wondering - about a child who isn't potty trained going to his CMs only wearing pants.

We are going to start training my DS soon and I'm wondering what the best way to do it is re his CM. He goes three days a week. I'm thinking about taking a week off and then sending him in pants if the training seems to be working...what do you guys do? Should I wait until I'm absolutely sure he's not going to have an accident? Will such a time ever come? Don't want to be an unreasonable parent for my lovely hardworking CM so any advice/tips/opinions welcome! (DS is my first, by the way, hence the ignorance...)

I have supported two families through potty training .

My tip would be to start at home on the weekend then continue with it at the CMs, no need to take a week off unless you want to.

Chat to your CM about what you want her to do - potty/trainer seat for the toilet, send plenty of spare clothes. The CM should be able to tailor her planning to accomodate a child in the throes of training, and plan activities that incorcorate the nearness of a loo IYSWIM.

You sound like a lovely parent and your CM is lucky to have you

As long as I know well in advance (usually sit down with parents and mutally decide when is the best time, NOT half term when all the mindees at home sort of thing.

The Parents start on the Saturday, and I plan my week so that we are at home, hopefully in the garden all week.

Potty goes in the car and Pampers bed sheets in the car seat, for tha school run, and away we go.

Its no prob, with planning and communication.

The AIBU was so cross cos there was no commuication.
