sitters.co.uk equivalent for holiday in Lake Districk end of July... where might I find one.

We are renting a cottage in the Lake District in July. Our nanny is on holiday so she won't be going with us. I'm happy to have the kids with us during the day. But it would be nice to have a sitter for at least some of the evenings while we are there. I have tried sitters.co.uk. They don't have anyone.

Does anyone have any ideas of maybe more local babysitting agencies? Even a local registered childminder who babysits?

Do you know which area of the Lake District it is, to narrow it down? :D

AtheneNoctua · 20/05/2008 13:53

Sorry, Eskdale.

There's one on findasitter.co.uk but is 20 miles away and she says she will only travel 15miles...but for the sake of 5 miles she might?

I used the post code "CA19 1TD" as an example

If you couldn't find a sitter would you perhaps consider a temp nanny for the week?

AtheneNoctua · 20/05/2008 15:22

I don't want to pay a full time temp nanny wage. I only want the childcare on say three evenings. During the day I want to see my kids. I just like to eat dinner in peace on some of the evenings.

However, the cottage has an extra bedroom which I could quite happily give to someone who wants a holiday in the Lake District for a week. Would also be happy to share my food with her. But, I'm not going to pay some £200 or £300 net plus taxes on top of that for a few nights babysitting.

I googled and on the first hit found www.missmolly.co.uk. I asked for babysitters within 10 miles of Windermere and apparently there are 4. Enjoy your holiday.

AtheneNoctua · 20/05/2008 16:55

I got all excited and was going to kiss you, but I put in the cottage post code and they are 20 miles away. Do you think a babysitter would travel 20 miles? I could happily let her spend the night.

id love a room in the lakes in exchange for babysitting

rookiemater · 20/05/2008 17:02

Oh thats a shame. I think its worth phoning and asking her. I guess if the moneys right then they may well do. Actually is it worth saying exactly where it is as there may be a mumsnet childminder in the area ?

rookiemater · 20/05/2008 17:04

Heres another thought, do you have the owners details for the place you are renting ? They may well have some local knowledge or indeed know someone who fits the bill.

AtheneNoctua · 20/05/2008 17:08

CA19 post code in Eskdale. The cottage actually belongs to a friend. She is asking round as well. But, so far no news. I

If you want a temp nanny I'm free

rookiemater · 20/05/2008 19:27

Ok hopefully Dynamicnanny will be what you need. If not try phoning these people www.hollowstones.co.uk , they are located in Eskdale and can organise babysitting for their property so may be able to give you a name.

AtheneNoctua · 20/05/2008 19:47

That's great dynamic nanny. You are free?

Although I suspect you mean available.

I'll cat you.

AtheneNoctua · 20/05/2008 22:27

Have e-mailed you. I'm travelling for work tomorrow afternoon. So if it goes all quiet on the e-mail front it's because I'm stuck in a boring airport and not because I'm ignoring you.
