Childcare 4 continuous days per week during summer, ie mon to thurs, live in for holiday cover only?

How much would this pay in areas such as London, Edinburgh, are the differences substantial?

Is there much call for summer only nannies?

Due to being at uni, potentially during term time I am also available thurs - sun, again four days but as they cover weekend I'm not sure if there would be call for this?

All opinions much appreciated.

I would have thought there is a market for weekend nannies: amongst people who work in catering/hospitality. I own a hotel; it's staffed at the moment so I do management stuff working my hours around dd. But I have had to plonk her in a playpen in the office before now to cover a staff absence on a Sunday morning, or when I'm short staffed for Sunday lunch. Most childminders don't work weekends, so finding childcare is mission impossible.

As a nanny, I can say that my experience last summer was that there was not call (at least in my area) for summer only nannies. I expect parents who needed help over summer holidays got an au-pair, as that's lower cost.

Weekend work can also be a bit thin on the ground. If you have experience with dealing with Special Needs, then there are a few agencies around who may be able to get your some work (typically 3 to 4 hours) providing a little respite care - often 1:1 taking a child out to the park, on a train, swimming etc.

Depends on areatbh - mine has a lot of private schools in it, and therefore summer holidays 9weeks+ so parents often ring agencies and see if they can get extra cover

I would put up an ad on netmums/NJ and gumtree and see what replies you get back
