Employing a nanny - first timer here - can anyone point me in the direction of a good basis contract I can work with/on?

Have just made an offer to a lovely girl but I now need to get a more formal contract, etc. in place. Does anyone have a good template thay can post me a link to...or alternatively pointers as for what extra bits and pieces I should include?

Thanks.

ps. if this has been done before - I'm quite happy to be pointed in the direction of a previous thread...

From memory, the bestbear website, and nannytax (I think) have model contracts.

The job description bit - which you have to write yourself as it'll always be family-specific is the most important practical bit, from our experience - it's the bit we've all referred to most. (That - and how holidays are calculated, & what the overtime rate is.)

CAT me. I'll share mine.

Things to include:
SSP
I prefer to define the holiday (with nanny) and write it into the contract.
Put inappropriate dress as grounds for disciplinary action.
Put insubordination as grounds for immediate dismissal.
Clearly state that pay is in British pounds.
Put in a minumum 3 month probationary period where either of you can terminate on say a week's notice without giving a reason.
No smoking while on your property or on duty (even if not on your property)
IF you don't want visitors in your house.

I attach a copy of "House Rules" to the contract.

Pay in Gross not net!

Include overtime rate if you expect to run over now and then. Or at least discuss it with nanny so you both agree what the overtime is.

This is all off the top of my head so I've probably forgotten things.

Oh yeah, job description. How could I forget that????
