Hello. I've been registered as a CM for about 10 months now and have just taken on a little boy who I've been picking up from pre-school and having for the afternoon. Last week his Mum dropped him at mine at 7.30 and I dropped him at pre-school for 9.00 and picked him up as usual. She has just texted me to ask if I can do it again this week and from now on. This is no problem for me as I have the space in my numbers. My question is this - would you charge just from 7.30-9.00 and then again from 11.30-3.00 or would you charge the full time 7.30-3.00? At the moment I have nobody after this space so she is not taking a place from another child whilst he is at pre-school. The thing is if I did get approached by someone to have their child full time on a Wednesday I might not be able to because of this. Do you follow? What do you do generally, I don't want to be unfair but I don't want to lose out monetarily. Your thoughts please!!

It seems hard, but as you are not able to fill your space if another family came along, I would charge the full amount, 7.30 to 3.30.

Also, if there was a problem at pre-school, you would have to be available to step in.

Hope that is clear

I've had this and I charged the full amount too. As BALD says, if there was a problem at preschool you would be the one to go and get him which means you are responsible for him during this time so you should be paid.

i charge full day for children who are only at school for 2 1/2 hours, you cant fill that space!..explain this to parents and if possible(if you NEED this little boy to stay on) you could offer a little discount as a softner?
