(and if you can smell it cooking you are hallucinating, it is a Caterpillar one from Tesco )

What no homemade creation with the mindees? Shame on you!

I seem to have 10 mins free, so guess what I chose to do, rather than fold the washing and put the dishwasher on!

My task for today is to reward good behaviour! Simple, as a cm, that's all we ever do. We know the rules about ignoring bad and rewarding good, but somewhere along the line, the rules appear to change. I watched a lad on Tuesday work his little socks off, whilst WW2 was going on around him! It was as if he was in his own world and he couldn't see or hear anything else. The teacher handed out loads of sanctions, but this poor lad got nothing! What's all that about? Then yesterday, a yr 7 lad, did some nice work and I suggested I write a note in his Planner and he was thrilled! His face lit up! So today, I am going to be the good fairy and reward all good behaviour richly. Time to ge this school back up to standards, by giving the kids a bit of praise. For some reason, these teachers don't get that a little bit of praise goes an awful long way.

Hear endth party policical broadcast on behalf of the Mo Party!

Have a nice day all!

KatyMac · 01/05/2008 08:34

Mo - can you be my MP? - I like the way you do things

No cake for me - I ate badly over the week-end & my IBS has been playing up - I guess crap food additives and stress were all a bit much for it

crace · 01/05/2008 09:41

You tell her Mo! And bless you, it takes so little doesn't it. I wonder if they've just done it too long now? Fresh face and all that?

Shoshe, sounds lovely, may need to make a cake now, but frankly it's just not the same as oversweet sugary premade is it? (craving)

Hi Katy! I hear you, IBS sucks. A junk food binge = bad news for me. That and ice cream. What's the point in living eh?

Last two days, and it's two mindees all day and early doors. Hopefully it will go by fast.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/05/2008 10:40

hi all

just me and baby mindee right her now, shes helping me type and we're printing off some photos for the new diaries.

got a mum coming after school tonight(NOT a good time!) to see ma about cm'ing..think she has two as her youngest looked nursery age and she seemed to have dropped on off when she approached me..the language barrier for me anyway wasa problem thins morning, i found it hard to understand her and she seemed like she was just nodding to me and didnt really understand what i said?...have printed off price list anyway, may be better on paper, can work out what hours she wants and go from there..thing is i have one of dd's friends from class thinking about coming 3 days a week(before and after school) and my old mindee coming back before and after school...if i took on this younger child, i doubt ofsted would grant a variation for one of the older one(id have to chose out of the two)if i already have my full amount??

anyway, best go mindee playing "BOO"! with me now and have her diary to fill out before school run.byeee

mumlove · 01/05/2008 16:06

Hello to you all, it's been a busy day here but glad 1 mindee has already gone home. DD is being a PITA and I still have to give her and baby mindee some tea before mindee 2 goes home and then drop mindee 3 off at her nans before taking DD to brownies.
I still cannot relax as I have part 2 of my planning and observation course tonight until 10pm (poke me if I fall asleep tomorrow please).

MaureenMLove · 01/05/2008 16:13

I think the bad weather must have kept you all ultra busy today! Only 7 posts!

Well, I signed a couple of Planners today, but tbh there weren't that many I fancied signing! I think the weather got to them too.

Another thing I've noticed and wil make a point of mentioning (not that I have any clout what-so-ever!) School uniform. Its dreadful! There is a uniform, which according to the school rules, should be adhered to at all times. It isn't though. Wrong ties, non-uniform jumpers, combats and jewellery. I've never seem so much jewellery on these kids. HUGE great Primark rings and earrings, chains, the lot! Its awful. Hair of varous different colours and shapes too.

I can't help thinking that if they were all in the same uniform and wore it properly, some form of order would follow! I did see it work in one class today. The teacher insisted they all line up outside her classroom before entering. She then saw each and everyone of them in, checking untucked shirts, coats and ties, as she went. If they weren't correctly dressed, they stood outside her room, until they were. It was the most perfectly behaved class I've seen all day!

Is it only me that can see that uniform does more that identify a school?

southernbelle77 · 01/05/2008 17:10

{knackered emotion}

Well that's me done for the week! Thank goodness! I'm knackered!

Saw a parent today for some work. Seemed to go well. She is talking to her dh tonight and then they may be coming back on Sunday (wouldn't normally do that tbh, but he works so it's hard!) so he can meet me too. Would be great if they choose me so fingers crossed! Until contracts are signed I never get my hopes up though!

Seems like you are what that school needs Mo!

shoshe · 01/05/2008 17:20

Ok Kids all gone Dinner being eaten as I type then off to blardy EYFS course, God I hope it dosnt go on over time

OP posts:
southernbelle77 · 01/05/2008 17:27

What EYFS course is it Shoshe? I'm very confused with all the courses! I've only just managed to get onto a briefing, let alone anything else!

crace · 01/05/2008 17:58

Oh what a day - I am shattered, dd a miserable COW and mindee still not well - all three have this cold and just soo unfriendly. We are trucking on despite it. I actually feel ok, hooray!

Had a m/w appt this pm that mindee went with me, I will have one more before eviction date and it will be the only appointment without a mindee with me. It will be weird. HB still around 130, so it could be that boy! Confirmed transverse as well, and she said it's a big 'un, so doubt it's going to move now. Oh well!

Am so so tired, looking forward to bed! Last day tomorrow! YIKES. Then I will be a lurker like Mo! Someone get my honoury guest membership pack with spare key ready please!

crace · 01/05/2008 17:59

(Ponders whether post could have included more !!!'s?!)

MaureenMLove · 01/05/2008 18:52

Hello chick! I've been lurking all over the CM boards, but don't like to interrupt the flow of conversation with my rubbish most of the time. I'm always watching though!

Bet you can't wait for tea time tomorrow. Have you got anything special planned for the day and have you had any nice going away pressies yet?

crace · 01/05/2008 19:26

Hey! No, nothing planned - I just don't have the energy, and that sounds so rubbish but it's true. It's all about surviving the day! I doubt I will get anything to be honest, only two sets of parents left and they aren't really the type.

I am hoping that it won't be too emotional for me, I hate goodbyes. But you know what that's like. It's only goodbye for a while but it's still goodbye. Plus little mindee isn't a happy chappy about new c/m. Just to add to the guilt.

MaureenMLove · 01/05/2008 19:44

Aw, its not nice, is it? Are all your mindees coming back? I expect they'll be round as soon as you've had the baby, so it won't be long before you see them again.

KatyMac · 01/05/2008 21:17

I don't know whether to post this or not

I feel a bit off - I may be being racist & that doesn't sit well with me

I have had an email from an african church asking about childcare for 6 weeks in the summer for one of their vicars

I don't know if it's a scam or not - has anyone had similar?

There is something in the back of my mind which thinks it doesn't seem 'right' but I don't know why

BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/05/2008 21:23

Katy, this is a scam , had an email from my Childcare devlopment Worker about this a few weeks back.

HTH

twofishes · 01/05/2008 21:23

Katymac I read something somewhere that this is a scam in order to get childminders details ( reg numbers etc, addresses etc) something to do with needing your bank details to pay you,be wary
Of course it could be genuine too!!

KatyMac · 02/05/2008 07:37

Hmm - difficult decision realy

Not sure what to do

shoshe · 02/05/2008 07:40

Katy almost def a scam, we have been warned about it here as well.

I have had at least 4/5 of them.
