Potty training and childminders - what’s normal?

DD is 2y 5m and we have been potty training for 2 weeks now and it’s going really well. She is out of nappies at home and when we go out, she will ask to use the potty when she needs to go and we have a carry potty which is great. She’s still wearing pull ups for naps and sleep.

However the childminder said she wants to keep her in nappies at her house for a bit longer.. but I don’t know what more we can do. When she comes home from the childminders we have a day after where she says she wants to wee in her nappy and I have to explain she only wears them at her house, not at home. The childminders reasoning is that she doesn’t have the time to be clearing up accidents, with 3 other children, but we haven’t had an accident (bar one where she couldn’t get her trousers off quick enough).

Is this usual practice? The childminder has a carry potty and apparently encourages her to go on it but she doesn’t use it at her house, I think probably because she’s wearing a nappy? She’s only there 2 days a week so it’s not a massive issue, but I feel like we’re taking steps backwards. Is it fair to say in January I would like her to be in underwear there, and if there’s an influx of accidents we can reconsider?

Good luck @Bounty9 and yes will she go on her own or needs to be prompted

Which is fine but make sure cm does

I can imagine cm not ans saying to you she wet herself x no of times so needs nappies

Why do you think that?

She’s asking to go every time now, we haven’t needed to prompt her in a few days. The other day she told us she needed a wee in the car and we had to wait a few mins to pull over and she held it until we could get her on the potty so I feel like she’s ready.

Brilliant

Just thought I'd update to say that DD has been dry all week including at the childminders 👏she even decided to do her first number 2 on the potty at the CM house 😂cm is 'absolutely shocked' she picked it up so quickly, but we have cracked it, thank god! Thank you for encouraging me to push on.

The latest update proves your thoughts unfounded.
