Hi hope you’re ok.
Hoping someone can help.

This financial year I’m on track to earn over 100k, April 2024- April 2025.

I am due my first baby January and plan to go back to work after 9 months - to which I’m hoping I’ll be able to get the funded free hours.

I am aware of you earn over 100K this canceles, understandably but I am just wondering when does that 100K have to be earnt ? Does it go on the financial year your applying for the childcare so in my case April 25-26 or does it go on the previous tax year April 24-25 in which case I wouldn’t be entitiled.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It’s the current tax year. It’s net adjusted income so try maxing out your pension. You may find you are better off cutting your FTE. Remember he’s not just the funded hours but tax free child care you miss out on too

Thanks so much for your reply.
So I am just wondering, if I plan to apply for the funded hours to start September/ October 2025 will it be on the current tax year they look at eg April 25-26 or the current year we are in now? Thanks

It will be the tax year you are in at the time

Something else to bear in mind is for funding during the autumn term (September-December) the code number 500….. from the government has to be generated by 31/8. Any codes issued between the dates 1/9-31/12 the funding will start from January the following year (spring term)
