Tax free childcare account issue

Hopefully someone can help... I'm new to using the child free tax account and I usually put money into the account a day before it's due to come out. However, I forgot and transferred is at 5:30am but the payment was also due today. The money is showing in the account but I've had a message to say the payment couldn't be made due to the account being empty and to contact my childminder to discuss payment. My childminder doesn't know the answer but now I don't know how to pay her? Do I have to contact someone to release the money to her? Thanks in advance.

If the money wasn't there when the payment was due to be made, it won't have been paid to her, which is why you can see it in there now. You can just log in and make a one-off payment to her, it's the same process as when you set up the regular payment,

Normally I find it takes about half a day for money to appear in the account, might be longer if you're new to it.
I only have experience of paying a nursery though and they don't seem to mind payments being a day or 2 late.

Since its 10.30 now surely she wouldn't expect it until tomorrow anyway. Can you check in the morning when it's been 24 hours?

If you pay in during working hours, it will clear into the account at some point that working day.

If you pay in after working hours, it will clear the next working day.

I always try to remember to log in at work on payday morning to make sure it clears into there that day so I can log back in to pay it out again to my cm so I'm not late.

Biggest faff of a system ever to be honest.

Thanks everyone, I've made a one off payment with the money that cleared- didn't know the system well enough clearly. Also set up a standing order so they'll always be money in the account now- again new to this way of life haha.
