We're doing OK

Which came as a bit of a surprise as last week a different OFSTED said we were doing badly

So which one should I believe?

the first one, lol. they really should get their act together

southernbelle77 · 15/04/2008 18:44

That says it all huh!

Why did you have two ofsteds?

KatyMac · 15/04/2008 18:48

I didn't because I have had some staff leave, I have recruited 2 new ladies who are lovely and I am getting them registered.

So one last week who said we were doing it all wrong (CRB checks, hand towels, B23 etc)

And the one this week was so impressed with my B23/reflective practice/hygiene etc

So who knows best??

Katy did you have both opinions in writing? If so I would complain to Ofsted, How when they are suppose to all sing from the same hymn sheet, that two Inspectors could com eto two totally differnt conclusion.

MindingMum · 15/04/2008 19:05

It's just like we all say over and over - what ofsted say isn't worth the paper it's written on!

KatyMac · 15/04/2008 19:05

In writing.....OFSTED......Nah!!!

Katymac how can they say you are getting it wrong. Am I not mistaken but didn't you get an outstanding a few years ago surely your practise couldn't have changed that much!

KatyMac · 15/04/2008 21:02

Yes i did get outstanding - but I'm not good enough to get that now......at least that's what one inspector says, the other says I would get that easily

So confused.....you will be

My inspector told me she never gives outstanding well whats the point of that?

shoshe · 16/04/2008 07:21

Xena, mine told me the same thing, as you say what is the pint of striving for it.

I have a real bug bear about the grading anyway, I have been in Childcare for 30 years, I have a Early Years Foundation Degree, I have done every course known to man, Paperwork is pretty good, am acreddited, so follow the National Curriculum for over 3's (along with all the ppaerwork that goes with that)

I am the group Rep for my area, help New girls coming through, make sure I take the mindees to all available outings, we do loads at home, and have great reports from my Network Supervisor and the Education Board (both who come in regularly).

But when it comes to Ofsted somebody who has been CMing 6 months, (who will often phone me, for ideas or advice) can get the same grade as me (same Inspector who dosnt give out Outstandings, but how can you grade two people so differnt the same!

Ok will stop Ranting now.

I was really chuffed when my inspector told me that I had the best paperwork she'd every seen. My self-worth fell to an all-time low when chatting to other minders in the area who had the same inspector ... she told all of us the same thing!! We were all given different gradings.

I had little to say about Ofsted that was particularly positive before this, but now have no faith in Ofsted inspections whatsoever.
