... a 13 year old to spend time with my DC (reception age) after school at my home while I work from home? I am not on calls in the afternoon but need to be able to focus for some stretches of time. Expectation is for her to play, do drawing, playdoh, kinetic sand etc. DC is very keen on having a "babysitter". The teen leaves in the same block as us so no commute etc. How much per hour would be reasonable? Hours would be up to 10h a week, but likely more like 5h.

hm... im tempted to say £10 a day.. but then i have a dilema.. does the school your DC goes too not have an after school club? which to me would be a safer option, that way they are being cared for by qualifed staff in a safe and secure settying

personally i would go with after school club.... then DC gets to play with others and is kept occupied. if they are at home they may need your attention even with a 'babysittier'

I agree after school club would work better as even when I worked as a nanny with mums working at home the children always wanted to see their mums or ask her things or mums could here all the noise we were making
