Its up to you, its your business, is the easy answer! However, there are plenty of opinions on Bank holidays on here, if you wait long enough! Personally, I don't feel I can charge for Bank Holidays. Firstly I would prefer not to work them and therefore I am not available, so no charge. And secondly, I'm self-employed, so why should I get paid. Some minders add a little extra onto their hourly rate to cover their losses.

For my term time mindees, I charge a small amount to keep their space open for them.

HTH.

Its worth checking out what other childminders local to you are charging as you can find clusters of childminders that do the same sort of prices when it comes to bank holidays, meals, retainers etc.

I charge full fees for bank holidays except for those at Easter & Christmas where I have a weeks closure plus bank holidays all at the reduced fee of 1/2 fees.

For term-time only places I charge 1/2 fees during the holidays for under eights. The place is reserved for the child so the parent can book (with sufficient notice) upon payment of the remaining half fees so full fees are paid for all booked days and 1/2 fees for the remainder. If parents have told me I'm not needed I can offer the place to another child - if I am able to book it out to someone else, then only the family using the place is charged.

As most of my over eights attend either mornings or afternoons I couldn't offer them all a place in the holidays. So I don't charge anything for over eights in the holidays (unless I agree an extra-hours booking).
