CVF1 form and original documents - anyone had to send recently?!

Applying for tax free childcare. DC was born overseas and has a foreign passport
only (entitled to dual nationality but doesn’t have a U.K. passport currently). I have been asked to send a copy of the birth certificate and passport so that they can verify DC before giving me a code for the tax free childcare.
has anyone had to send off original documents recently and have any idea on turnaround times?? I called the government helpline today but the person I got through sounded unsure of the current times. I have a couple of trips booked (next one in 7 weeks and one after that 3 weeks after) so I am nervous of sending off the passport in case the turnaround time is long!

Hey, how long did it take for you to receive approval for TFC / free hours in the end? I applied on 4th July, sent the documents on the 5th (arrived 8th) and got the documents back yesterday (25th). However my account has not been updated yet...

It was about a week after I got the documents back!

Ah that's brilliant, thanks so much for your reply! Here's hoping... I do have to pay my nanny for her first month this coming Wednesday but thankfully I should (just) have enough in my one UK-born child's account to cover. Will use all the funding for this quarter though so I hope that the accounts for my other two US-born children will be sorted in advance of the end of August at least!

Hi I’ve been asked to do this also and they’re cutting it fine! What was the turn around time sending documents we go on holiday in September! A for the life of me cannot get through to speak to a human! One stressed mum here

Hey, like the OP, my approval came through quickly (no email - found out via logging into the account) after the return of the documents, in fact 2 days later. So 3 weeks between sending the documents and receiving them back, then approval 2 days after that.
When I phoned to enquire on progress, the representative (who sounded bored and uninterested) told me that documents were dealt with by another team so he couldn't give me a progress update, and it could take up to 30 working days...!
