Kay comes in and picks up all the shiny easter foil, ticks the kettle on and opens the windows.

Morning!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm on holidays, children I nanny are off school for next 3 weeks. I'm already bored.
Went out today delivering some of my advertising (babysitting) cards... only put about 10 though letterboxes - I'm a bit too picky I think. I'll only put them through letterboxes where the car on the driveway has a babyseat in it.

Maureen - How about getting a Hippobag instead of a skip. Cost wise it's not much different, but you could at least get it - fill it - then login to request and pay for collection. Megabag is 1.5 cubic yards, costs around £11, plus £70 for collection & disposal (including VAT).

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! i've had an awful day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

will come back on tonight and fill you all in! all i can say now is blardy car and blardy people!

nannynick · 25/03/2008 17:28

Car trouble... oh no! People trouble... oh no! Both at the same time... nightmare.

Chill, make a cup of tea (or something stronger).

Thanks Nick, I think we'll be borrowing a trailer for this lot. There isn't heaps, sp I may be able to loose some to the bin men, so hopefully it'll only be one run. If I could catch the rag and bone man, I'd be able to get rid of the washing machine and radiator to them, but I can never guarantee when they come passed. I'm leaving them in the front garden either, its bad enough that I've got a boat in the garden, without an old washer as well. I feel like Steptoe and Son!

Agree about the privcy policy. TBH its rare that I moan about my parents or mindees. Generally, its something that I would mention to the parents anyway, so no harm done. All my parents know I use this site anyway.

Could we pop over to MMs thread if we get a minute ?

Thanks all

well my nice new car cost me more money today! not sure if you remeber but when i had it it had to have a new battery fitted within 2 days! didn't use the car all weekend, used dh's instead. went to take dd + 2 mindees out to tkae dd to pre-school and the blardy thing wouldn't start! had a freind here (mindees mum) so we treid to jump it from heres but to no avail. just about managed to squeeze three car seats across the back of hers and got dd to school all being a bit late. got home and rang the aa, very nice man tuned up quite quickly. tested the battery and showed me that it was the wrong size for the car! when they ahd repalced it they hadn't put one on that was suitable for large deisels! . so £90 later i had my car back in time to do school run and get dd to ballet on time! not quite sure where i stand with the car now. since i've had it i have spent nearly £1000 on it , my own fault for not getting warranty etc. nice garage but they sold me a pile of poo! am thinking of ringing them and telling them all i have had to put up with in the last month.

my people issue is one of those nn i can't really talk about on here, but lets just say ARG! life goes on.

AND how would you guys apporach the parent so f my 11 yo to ask for a drop in days. i am really struggling on tuesdays getting dd to ballet on time, have been late for the last 3 weeks! and it's not going to get any easier as i get bigger etc. also really would like my friday afternoons back! selfish i know. id' happily have him for the other three days but if i had to lose him i wouldn't be too bothered. should i see if i can get another minder to cover the other two days or maybe an afterschool club (he does drama on thrus at the mo) just think i'm doing too much!

thanks for listening to my rant! got my scan tom so am excited and nervous all in one. really didn't need todays crud

MaureenMLove · 25/03/2008 19:39

Right, car thing first! Have you got a receipt from the garage that fitted the wrong battery? And have you got written proof from the AA that it was the wrong one? Surely the garage are at fault and you should be able to get your expense of the new one re-imbursed. I'd contact the CAB if I were you, that's really not on. If you think about it, the garage has sol you something that is not suitable for the job its designed to do. If a shop sold you something that wasn't compatable, you'd expect to be able to take it back for a refund.

MaureenMLove · 25/03/2008 19:41

11 year old. Just explain to the parents that its not working and explain the days you can help. If you loose them, then so be it, but you have to start thinking of your health and they should understand that. If you can come up with some alternatively for them, it might go your way. Good luck!

southernbelle77 · 25/03/2008 19:57

Hi all!

Well it's the first time I've been able to get on the computer today! Only had one mindee and dd but still, it's been a handful! Think it has more to do with the fact that I had so little sleep last night thanks to dd (really need to sort that out, but that's for another time!!). We all enjoyed having fun with doodle Daisy this afternoon though which was quiet and kept them amused!

I'm getting myself down about work at the moment. It's not like I don't have any work as I do have 4 mindees on my books, but I would just like to have a full time person! I just feel like I keep getting let down and it's depressing. Oh well, these things happen I suppose.

Sorry to hear about your car problems EM. I certainly think that garage who supplied you with the wrong size battery should pay for the new one and to be honest, the garage you bought the car from shouldn't have sold you something that was going to breakdown straight away.

southernbelle77 · 25/03/2008 20:02

Oh, and as for the confidentiality thing, I do think that sometimes it is very hard to talk about things on forums if the parents / employer will read it. I know that I've wanted to write things on here that I have then decided against incase the wrong people read it. Nothing really bad or anything, just advice about certain things really.

My name on here is nothing to do with my name in RL so it's a slim chance but I'm still a little dubious about it!

shoshe · 25/03/2008 20:15

Belle, I love your name, I always think of you sashaying about in a billowing red dress and parasol.

eleanorsmum · 25/03/2008 20:17

thnaks mo, will def call the garage tom. they had the battery replaced so i have no paper work for it but def think they should be made aware of the problems i've had. am very doubtful they will do anyting but might see what they say and then call CAB.

also mo, the sandpit! are we still ok to have it? if so i'll get my friend to conact you to arrange collection (she's pretty useless but has been ill so hey ho!)

MaureenMLove · 25/03/2008 20:27

Yes, that's fine. Its still here!
