flexible childcare: is there such a thing

DH and I are having lots of discussions about DD and her childcare. DD is thinking of cutting down his work and looking after her 2-3 days pw ish. he is a photographer and would stop doing anything other than the best , i.e. highest paying, full day jobs. But the days of the week he would need to work (2-3 days most weeks) would not be the same 2-3 days, and some weeks he would not have any at all. Is there any sort of creche or nursery where he could leave DD if he needed to, or do any cms do this sort of thing?

Obviously we couldn't swap it about all over the place with different people, would need to be consistent, just not every week.

Yes it exists. I had a nursery who were pretty relaxed about me swapping my days, now I have a cm who is equally mellow.
Not all will though, worth hunting around.

Some CMs do 'ad-hoc' care, to fulfil this very need.

This sounds ideal but where does one find them! I could try ringing around to see if we could find something like that.
