Bit of a complicated situation and I wasn't sure where to post this, but thought some people with 1st hand knowledge might have some ideas...
Our neighbour is in hospital with cancer, and sadly it seems he hasn't long left. His wife speaks virtually no English, they seem to have very few real friends locally. They have a toddler, and the Mum obviously wants to spend as much time as possible with her husband. My DW spent overnight next door last night looking after the little boy while she was at hospital, and the neighbour is now asking about someone looking after him during the day, but we both work.
She has Macmillan leaflets according to DW, but no idea what help (if any) she's entitled to. If we were to try and help her get temporary childcare, would we approach Macmillan, the local authority, HV....?
We really want to help but can only give so much of our own time.
