Mums of babies - is this inappropriate?

In a store and in line with a mum with a young baby - 5-6 months. She and I smiled and acknowledged each other. The baby was in a carrier in the buggy, facing mum. I asked “Can I peek at your baby?” She said sure and I just oohed and ahed a little. It occurred to me later that maybe it was inappropriate?

Why on earth would that be inappropriate?

Sounds fine. I wouldn’t be upset, it happens often. He’s adorable and I’m happy to receive compliments about him 😂

I loved people asking to peek and ooh and ahh at my babies. Not inappropriate at all. 😀

My baby always has a smile for people who pay her attention at the shops and I don’t mind people telling me how lovely she is. So no I don’t think you were unreasonable at all.

It seems fine to me and I used to love people coping over my baby. However I can imagine there are some uptight people who'd have a problem with it!

Looking at a baby is one of the great joys of life to me. And you did ask. Totally not weird at all.

Oh my that's adorable. Not inappropriate at all ☺️ I smile at babies looking at me in supermarkets. In a weird way I sort of hope it helps me to conceive, like maybe a kind of relaxing effect. I don't know. I'm probably talking out of my arse. Carry on cooing ❤️
