2 year old pushing other kids?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has gone through a similar situation. So my husband picked up my 2-year-old from nursery today, and they said she was pushing other children. This is the first time it has happened since she has been going there. She has always been a child who plays nicely with other kids. I am really annoyed because the nursery nurse asked my husband if maybe she had seen us fighting, which is very odd given that this is an isolated incident, so why would that be her first assumption? My husband and I would never dream of getting physical with each other. We don't even argue in front of the kids. Am I right to be annoyed by this?

Also how have you addressed this behaviour (toddler pushing others) if you have experienced the same with your children? Thank you.

Pushing, biting, hitting and snatching are pretty typical phases children go through I'd not be happy at the nursery nurse if it were a one off

I can’t believe she asked was it that you and your husband were pushing each other 😂😂😂 don’t most kids go through phases of this? My toddler used to hit, us not other kids as it was during covid and she wasn’t in nursery. It didn’t last long but we certainly were not hitting each other at home. My friends young kids have all gone through varying degrees of hitting pushing and biting also, some more than others. I wouldn’t be happy with that question either op and would question her knowledge of child development!

Oh and how we dealt with it was just saying I can’t let you hit me and moving away. It worked for us. And a book called hands are not for hitting we got on Amazon for her was great too, I think it also covered pushing if I remember right but she loved that book and it set her up for other kids hitting at her too in nursery when she did get going!

Thank you so much for your replies. On Monday, I'm going to speak with the nursery manager. I'm also going to buy the book you have recommended. The nursery has definitely handled my child's actions in an incorrect manner especially considering that this is the first time it has happened.
