went for an interview the other week, accomodation was a lovely 1 bed flat at the bottom of the house... having not done live in for a million years and only just started applying for live in jobs, I'm not sure what the going rate is for FT live in these days???

the family was offering £200 gross per week... which would end up as about £150 per week net right? for 8am - 7.30pm... wasn't sure what to make of that!!

I have sent her an e-mail giving her your e-mail address.

eleusis · 04/03/2008 21:03

Have heard back from her. She is going to e-mail you.

missiesparkles · 04/03/2008 21:19

got email danke

I def think that I'd be silly to pass it up because I was a bit apprehensive about the money tbh, I wasn't actually too sure of the live in wages these days, hence why I posted + as I said before I've had a jolly bad run of families who have messed me around so I thought I'd gather opinions.

its good to get two sides on these things and as I said, she did agree to bump it up anyway which to me shows that she actually is interested in me so if one good thing has come out of it, I feel a lot better about myself (I'm aware that might sound silly but I really have had some bad experiences this year!!)

I'm gonna throw myself into the next 3 weeks and hope for it all to go smoothly! and then fingers crossed, I'll have a full time job to start

have been sent a draft contract via email and am signing tomorrow

noticed that gross weekly wage said £250, when I had agreed to £230, so being the paranoid freak I am, I pointed it out [hmmm]
turns out, they decided to round it up to £250 at the last minute so now I look bloody honest (which I am I'd like to point out!) AND I get paid more... can't say fairer than that eh?

gonna call my NVQ training centre and inform them I will now have a full time job as of 31st so they can give me my nice funded NVQ place and then at some point start my driving lessons... oh and learn spanish too!!

am giddy with excitement, can you tell?? eeeee!!

thanks to everyone who posted, big thanks to eleusis and your nanny too

Fab news. Really pleased for you

eleusis · 06/03/2008 13:02

Glad to help.

Now if you could find her a nice English boy to marry, she could come back and work for me again and we could call it even.

missiesparkles · 06/03/2008 13:05

I know a few, I'll see what I can do lol

missiesparkles · 07/03/2008 16:27

she also stressed that she wants to start potty training ASAP so I've also written down a list of potty training ideas - she said she's bought the gina ford book - but I've got a list of things I've found have worked and also other nannies imput.

Oh, she sounds like my twin.

How old are your charges?

missiesparkles · 07/03/2008 16:49

My boy will be 3 in May and he is resisting toilet training. The only time he wants to go on it is when the alternative is going to bed.

eleusis · 07/03/2008 16:58

I asked my last nanny to develop a potty training plan and share with me and DH. She never got round to it.

missiesparkles · 07/03/2008 19:55

well I took my plan to her, signed my contract and we're starting the potty training from the 31st!

apparently though, she has been saying when she wants to go so thats a good start!
