I have agreed for dd to be bridesmaid at my step bro's wedding we don't have much to do with sb but they have asked and i thought it would be a nice way for us to make more of an effort and my dad and sm are very chuffed anyway........turns out the wedding is on the same day as the day i agreed to babysit for one of my new mindee's, I feel really awful, she asked me because she's organising a suprise party and everyone she knows apart from me will be attending the party.

She only asked me yesterday if i was still ok to do it then last night i went to a dress fitting with dd1 and found out the date of the wedding.

What am i going to say?

Tricky situation, but if you explain that you have just found out the date of the wedding at which your dd is going to be bridesmaid, I am sure they will understand.

Could you ask any other childminders you know if they are able to babysit and then give her that as an option?

Bugger! How annoying, but also a bit odd that you weren't told when they were actually tying the knot!

But yes, I agree with SB, if you could find someone else that could help, it would at least soften the blow.

oh i hate letting people down
hope you find somebody to help with the mindee

could mindee not go with you to the night do

No suggestions apart from explaining. I personally wouldn't take them with me to an evening thing as I'd want to be able to give my time to my own family (having said that, my ds is enough to deal with at these late parties, I wouldn't want anyone else too!). Difficult one though.

Thanks everyone, I've managed to get another childminder to say she will do it if needed and i've explained to the mum who was ok about it so at least i don't have to wait to tell her now its over with, i just hate doing that to people.
