Hi first time using a sling yesterday my baby seems to scream for the first 5-10 mins I check all around and it’s not too tight I tried with it looser where she slumps a bit but she still screams sometimes stops breathing how hard she cries do u think I got her the sling too late and she’s too old to get use to it? She’s nearly 7 weeks after 5-10 mins of me swaying shushing and tapping her bum she goes to sleep and stays asleep for hours is this normal? Will she get use to the sling?

Totally normal I’d say, my son was very much like this. He had colic though, is she generally unsettled anyway? It may also just be a new sensation for her being in contact with the sling even if you’ve fitted it perfectly. Lots of things wind up little babies. I’m sure she will learn to love it and it will really free up your hands for tasks too xx

I’d say it’s normal too. Our baby used to cry every time initially, but then settle. He loves it now. After a while, he kept crying on the odd occasion when he was hungry or needed a nappy change and we hadn’t realised, so maybe just double check that’s not the case. It also helped when we switched to a carrier that we could slip him in quickly, rather than a sling, if that’s any help.

Mine did the same. Had to get on with it and ignore the screaming when I had to deal with my toddler
