Hourly rate for a childmind for a 5 year old ?

Any idea roughly how much the hourly rate is for a childminder please for a 5 year old?

I charge £6.50 per hour in the South East.

All day?
Or just for before and after school?
Round here, the second option is usually done as session price.

For after school it's usually a flat rate for pick up, tea and care whether it's 5, 5.30 or 6.00, as they can't fill the last hour after you've left.
Hourly rates apply to more flexible arrangements.

It depends where you are and things like if a cooked meal is provided.

You're probably best phoning around some local minders to see about availability and rates.

I'm in Surrey and you'd be looking at around £6.50 per hour +.

North London

Our CM is £6.50 an hour in the holidays and £15 per day for after school pick up from 3.15-6 which includes tea

I'd recommend calling round, in our area East outer London it's up to £7 per hour with some more flexible child minders with an extra hour to cover school pickups.
But others charge £60-75 per day and you can do any hours from 7 or 8 in the morning until 5 or 6 in the evening.
Here it's not impossible to find a space nearby, but some areas there's terrible undersupply, so you won't find a place regardless of the cost.

@moleeye £15 a day for your CM is very reasonable! Is that the norm in your area?
