I live near there! (am so sad for getting excited at seeing Bracknell in a thread title )

Smithy · 20/02/2008 16:57

Ooh, me too!

I go running at the Look Out and we are regular visitors. DS1 and DS2 love it there. We go for walks and they love to build dens in the woods. Tend not to go during half term as it's too busy!

nannynick · 20/02/2008 17:06

I live near, go so frequently I have a loyalty card! Only minor moan is the cafe, which could be better IMO, but at least it has a cafe (and the cafe at Coral Reef is in walking distance, if you fancy macaroni cheese with chips).

I'm going to Lookout on Sunday... expect it may be busy.

mumlove · 20/02/2008 17:12

nick - did your train ride go ok?

nannynick · 20/02/2008 17:14

Yep, made it to Bournemouth and back again. Wasn't beach weather, so didn't stay long at Bournemouth. 7 year old liked going on a train with a sloping front (as he called it).

mumlove · 20/02/2008 17:18

No not beach weather today, very cold so we went to soft play insted of the park.
Yesterday we had lunch sat on the quay front, it was lovely.

LadyOfWaffle · 20/02/2008 17:19

How random, I am from Bracknell and too went to Bournemouth (on Saturday).

nannynick · 20/02/2008 17:22

How random Did you go by train?

nannynick · 20/02/2008 17:24

Should anyone be wondering what the Lookout is, here is the website - Look Out Discovery Centre

nannynick · 20/02/2008 17:26

candifloss - are you also a local, or did you travel far? Coral Reef (opposite Lookout) is great for swimming, especially with under 5's during school term-time as special reduced rate.

LadyOfWaffle · 20/02/2008 17:28

No. I guess that's where the similarity ends

BexieID · 20/02/2008 17:30

I'm from Wokingham (now live in Scotland) and the last time I went must have been before they built any of the new things! We are visiting next week and if theres a nice day, I might go.

Thanks for the idea. Sad to say after living in the area for 29 years, I can never think of anything to do other than go shopping!

nannynick · 20/02/2008 17:42

Only things I do in Wokingham area are Monkey Mates (indoor play), and Dinton Pastures (country park). See Mumsnet Local for map.

If nice weather, play in the playground at Lookout and walk in the woods, if bad explore inside Lookout and/or go swimming at Coral Reef.

Enjoy your return visit to the area.

BexieID · 20/02/2008 18:32

Monkey Mates must be where my mum suggested. Not been to Dinton Pastures for awhile. California Country Park was always good as well.

candifloss · 21/02/2008 07:56

what is monkey mates? yes i am a local so any other things to do would be good to know. I have done alice holt that was good and bird world. I find it hard to find something for under 2 as well as over 8 that they all will enjoy. yes cafe was a nightmare but we sat outside and had hot chocolate, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

MonkeyMates is indoor play, with an enclosed outdoor play area. The children I care for like it better than Jakes, Woosh. We don't go often though.

nannynick · 21/02/2008 08:25

For under 2's... playgym in Aldershot is quite good. But it's not suitable for over 5's.

Think I'm off to Alice Holt (called Owl Woods by the children) this morning.

candifloss · 21/02/2008 08:43

where is monkey mates exactly also do you know any company that sells wooden nursery equipment i want to buy a corner screan to section off role play (like in a classroom) i want one with a window maybe two parts with hindge in middle if you understand what i mean

Google Aerial Photo of MonkeyMates. Road access is via junction of Old Forest Road / Toutley Road.

Wooden Room Dividers - Community Playthings - Hope Education
Costly and not really what you want I expect.
Galt have a structure which may be more suitable, though has a gap as door.
