i haven't done the course but i "do" maternity work

What would you like to know?

frannikin · 18/02/2008 22:48

Ditto - I did the MNT one. Can I help?

ihateironing · 18/02/2008 22:57

whats the course? im looking for one but not a million miles of traveling to get there

ihateironing · 18/02/2008 23:05

i had a look on their site.£89 and they dont provide study material, what do you get for your money??

sarah573 · 19/02/2008 16:20

I did it recently and have my certificate.
It was good, I had been working as a maternity nanny for a few months but was having trouble getting interviews as didn't have any 'qualifiations' The sleeptite one isn't actually a qualification but is a great certificate to have in my folder and seems to be held in pretty high esteem by parents and agencies...I guess what you get for your money is that you can prove you know what you are doing. I think the idea is to prove yourself by studying and using your experience rather than being handed all the relevant info in a book!!

Feel free to post questions and I'll help if I can (I got 94% on mine, so did ok :-) )Im not about next week though so you may have to wait a while for the answer!!

JennaJ posts on here occasionally, think she may own the agency, so guess she would be able to help you.
I did the accredited MNT course, like Frannikin. Was a few years back mind. It's not usually rocket science... is there a specific question you need help with?

Anyoneouthere- do feel free to email me if you have any specific problems with the paper, obviouly can't give you all the answers but can certainly point you in the right direction

Ihateironing- The courses we offer at sleeptite are aimed specifically at nannies and maternity nannies who already have experience but want to be able to prove their knowledge and experience to potential parents and agencies. Our courses aren't accredited but are certificated.
What do you get for your money? The cost of the course covers the costs involved with having the courses written, compiling the papers (which are around 35 page books) posting, paying for moderated marking, general admin costs, producing certificates, posting certificates..etc etc etc What do you personally get for your money? a certificate for your profile to prove that you have achieved a high level of knowledge and competence as a maternity nanny.. and of course personal achievement ...the course isn't 'easy' as an experienced maternity nanny (10+yrs) I had to really think about some of the answers when I took the question paper!

Feel free to email me direct [email protected]

thanks for your reply Jenna,

i just read the bit that says you dont send out study materials, thats what made me wonder what you actually get.im same as has SARAH ive been effectively a maternity nanny for 4 years in the summer but no qualification to back it up.

MNT did tell me they r going to be offeringa distance learning course later in the year.

mumnannymum · 19/02/2008 21:19

JennaJ - Hi where is your course based? Do you have a web site to look at?
