Any recommended nanny agencies covering SW London?

I am a bit low on free time and I think I would rather pay agency fees than sift replies from a Gumtree/ nanny job ad. Can anyone supply recommendations - or agencies to avoid?

thanks

KiwiOz only supply people who might want to go down under for extended 3 week holidays?! I suppose at this stage I need to be open-minded about who I employ....

What are you looking for?

fridayschild · 14/02/2008 18:03

I think (haven't really bottomed this out yet)
-english mother tongue

  • qualified
  • sole charge experienced
  • full clean driving licence
  • full time live out
  • first aid cert, CRB check nonsmoker etc
  • willing to OFSTED register if not registered already
  • checkable references
  • already in this country ie I am not offering a job to someone I haven't interviewed

and the usual nanny stuff - cooking, kids' laundry, helping boys practice their reading

I used Wimbledon Nannies and was very happy with them.

LittleMissMac · 14/02/2008 22:18

Abbeville nannies was recommended to me by a friend who is a nanny herself.

MrsRecycle · 14/02/2008 22:26

fridayschild - I know a Nanny (Norland trained) who lives in Isleworth and is looking for a role closer to home (she currently has to travel to Central London). Not sure if you're close by, but if you are, CAT me and I can give you her details. She does have a 1 year old dd but it hasn't been a problem in her current role.

Oh and I don't charge agency fees

wilbur · 14/02/2008 22:30

I've used Abbeville Nannies for temp help - they are v nice and helpful and I got the loveliest girl from them once who saved my sanity for a few hours a week when I had 3 children under 6 and builders in the house.

fridayschild · 15/02/2008 09:01

Actually I have used Abbeville Nannies before and they are good, but now I am in Barnes I am out of their area.

MrsRecycle, I have sent you a CAT

Jura, thinking about this overnight, was talking to the referees of your Australian an issue? Or anyone else who has employed antipodeans?

No rush to reply from you Jura, I am under no immediate pressure to recruit and you have quite a lot of your own to think about!

Got it FC, just sent her dh a mail with your email address in it.

Idefixx · 15/02/2008 11:44

I used Applejack for our nanny. She is an absolute star and all the candidates they sent through were very very good (we interviewed a few before deciding on our nanny). I live in Richmond, so I would think Barnes is not a problem for them.

fridayschild · 15/02/2008 15:37

thanks!

Hi Mrs Rycycle,
We are looking for a nanny and saw your message recommending someone in Isleworth - is she still looking for a position? We live in Richmond.

fridayschild · 12/03/2008 21:21

I think she is still looking; we swapped e mails and I was looking for a driver and she was looking for someone younger than my dcs (one in school, the other in pre-school).

Mrs Recycle has better links to the nanny so might put me right, but if you CAT me I wil pass your e mail address to the nanny.
